Creation of a fresco, a monumental work for concrete tunnels in the Alps. Special Ski and Olympic Games.

The Métamorphoze workshop was once again asked to create exceptional immersive experiences (signed FBL – artist designer Franck Blériot) in the tunnels. Elegant and contemporary street art takes over the ski resorts, the mountains and their raw concrete tunnels. Monumental contemporary painting. We are pleased to share with you the first drafts of our future achievements which will be factual in August 2024. Contemporary frescoes, the choice of paintings, signage and markings of ski slopes, execution logs, proposal of "industrialization" processes with a view to optimizing costs, urban planning and decoration of ski resorts... We support resorts and ski area operators by 2030. We integrate technology, psychology, art... in the face of new life AND purchasing behaviors.

The Value of Creating Beautiful Murals in Ski-Accessible Concrete Tunnels in the Alps

The Alps are world famous for their breathtaking landscapes, their vertiginous ski slopes, and their wild nature. However, throughout these majestic mountains, certain functional developments such as concrete tunnels, often used to connect ski areas or protect against avalanches, can disrupt this visual harmony. A creative and ecological solution to reconcile these structures with their natural environment is the creation of artistic murals. Here’s why embellishing these concrete tunnels in the Alps with murals can transform both the skiers’ experience and the alpine aesthetic.

1. Breathe new life into functional spaces

Concrete tunnels, while necessary for the safety and fluidity of ski slopes, can feel monotonous and cold. They often contrast with the natural beauty of the surrounding mountains. By incorporating murals, these once austere spaces can become vibrant and inspiring works of art. These frescoes bring new life to spaces that would otherwise be considered purely functional. Each tunnel thus becomes an open-air art gallery where skiers, while gliding through the mountains, can discover unique artistic creations. The colors and patterns of the murals create a pleasant visual break, captivating the attention of passers-by and enriching their skiing experience.

2. Celebrating the cultural and natural identity of ski resorts in the Alps

Murals in the tunnels of the Alps can also be used to highlight the cultural and natural heritage of the region. By working with local artists or creators who specialize in mountain art, it is possible to tell the story of the Alps through visual representations. Themes such as alpine flora and fauna, mountain traditions, or iconic snowy landscapes can be depicted on these murals. This not only beautifies the tunnels, but also makes skiers aware of the richness of the mountain ecosystem. Additionally, murals can include local historical or mythological scenes, providing skiers with a deeper connection to the place they are passing through.

3. Enrich the skier experience

The murals transform the skiers’ experience by adding an artistic dimension to their day on the slopes. These works can create pleasant visual breaks during sometimes monotonous passages through the tunnels. Rather than feeling oppressed by grey walls, skiers are immersed in colourful and inspiring worlds, which can even strengthen their connection to the mountain. In addition, these frescoes become memorable landmarks. A tunnel decorated with a unique piece of art can become a topic of discussion between skiers and a distinctive gathering point. It also contributes to the image of the resort, which stands out for its creativity and commitment to art and the environment.

4. Encouraging sustainability and environmental integration

By dressing the concrete tunnels with murals, the ski resorts show their desire to harmoniously integrate human structures into the natural landscape. Unlike other types of decoration or layout, wall painting does not disturb the environment and does not require additional materials, thus limiting the ecological impact. The fresco then becomes a way to express environmental awareness and promote respect for nature. By choosing themes related to sustainability or the protection of fauna and flora, the murals can also have an educational dimension and make visitors aware of the importance of preserving mountains.

5. Create a unique visual identity for the resort

Ski resorts often seek to differentiate themselves from each other, and public art is a powerful way to mark their identity. By investing in murals in tunnels, a ski resort can create a unique, modern and avant-garde image. The frescoes can become emblematic symbols, used on the resort’s communication media, attracting visitors curious to discover these works in the middle of the mountains. Some murals can even become attractions in their own right, encouraging visitors to come back to admire new creations or discover collaborations with different artists.

And finally and to summarize…

The integration of murals into the concrete tunnels of the Alps transforms functional spaces into true works of art, enriching the visual and emotional experience of skiers. These murals, in addition to adding an aesthetic dimension, celebrate the cultural and natural identity of the region while encouraging an environmentally friendly approach. They also offer a unique visual identity to ski resorts that choose to adopt this creative approach. In the Alps, art and mountains meet to offer an unforgettable sensory experience for snow sports enthusiasts.
