How do you imagine a concept for decoration, wall art and design signage in large companies?

Méta News team

Are you an architect, decorator, real estate manager, communication and marketing director, dirigeant.es and you want to create a general decoration concept for your company? Does your building(s) have several hundred salarié.es? Thousands of offices?

Do you need to create inspiring, creative, corporate, human-centric spaces? Colour is a fundamental element. It helps, activates, rests. It has multiple powers.

For our art and decoration workshop Métamorphoze, the following elements must be considered in a complementary and inseparable way:

  • What is the nature of your business? A head office, a research and development centre, a private establishment, a public company?
  • The usual flow of his collaborators. How do they circulate? Their habits, the time spent…
  • Dedicated spaces. Each space has a destination! And at each destination, a dedicated wall decoration: Show room, reception, break area, lounge bar, mobile cafeteria, conference center, rest well-being, fest meeting, meeting room, phone box, gym, council room, reception / supplier room, visio center, research and development space, training rooms, restaurants, terraces…
  • The type of furniture. The balance between fixed furniture and modular furniture, adaptable.
  • Decorative accessories, lighting, carpets…
  • The type of floor and wall covering.
  • The colours, their grain, their specificities…
  • The messages you want to broadcast. To do this, large-format murals are great vectors of communication. Semantic frescoes, illustrated wall decorations, murals that give meaning and inspiration. One of the keys to transforming your spaces, linking them and creating a universe conducive to personal and professional development.
  • Signage that is now also decorative, artistic, creative. YES! You can lead with inspiration, with a form of art and creativity.
  • Personalized window stickers, design. They too are necessary not only for PRM regulations but also to convey messages and ensure confidentiality.

Interview with the designers

To better understand how to inspire and how to create unique, singular offices, we invite you to take a look back at one of our latest creative office concepts. The largest R&D center in Europe. The Renault Truck – Volvo Group centre in Lyon.

Each decorative concept must have its own story, its story telling that gives meaning to everyone. Customers, salarié.es, suppliers, partners…

One of the largest construction sites in France. #DESIGN AWARDS2023

Discover the artists Franck Blériot and Samuel Fichet, the creators of the concept of wall art, decoration, street art, window stickers and artistic signage for the construction of the largest R&D center in Europe of the Volvo Group.

Franck Blériot: This work which brings together murals, artistic window displays over almost more than 1000 linear meters… is MONUMENTAL. It is a contemporary scenography that traces the establishment of the Volvo Group and Renault Trucks around the world. + detail?

Samuel Fichet: In this scenography, it seemed crucial to us above all to respect the architectural work. We wanted to magnify the spaces created, and not distort or diminish them by creating a proposal disconnected from its environment. We therefore started by defining a colorimetric and stylistic perimeter to be respected in order to offer visuals in harmony with the furniture that will accompany it. The principle put in place is that of travel. Travel as a backdrop, especially with topographical and visual rhythmic planes, but also that of mobility. We have infused our creations with an electric energy that is found in all our works. We wanted to guide the visitor and the engineer through the space, in particular by working on the line. The line as a directional object but also as a symbol of the “link”.

A corporate decoration in 2023 must be inspiring, reassuring.

It is not necessarily just corporate. The human being must be at the centre of the game, at the centre of concerns. It is expressed on the walls, on the facades, on the windows, on the floors.”

Franck Blériot – Street artist and founder of the metamorphoze workshop

Franck Blériot: What is your favorite graphic element? The great typographies that go out of the frame! What for? Because “Innovating” means thinking outside the box. It is to upset certainties. The creator, researcher or developer… awakens the question of the future and the place that everyone will be able to take. Being outside the field is, therefore, fundamental to progress.

Samuel Fichet: What is your favorite graphic element? Graffiti… It is a street art that can only be consumed while travelling. It is also an art whose visual generosity between contrast and the elegant minimalism of the Scandinavian atmosphere. It was very interesting for the team to develop graffiti as a vector of the group’s strong values.

Do you have an anecdote to share about the building? More than an anecdote, a real tribute “very humbly” to Pierre Soulage, one of the most famous painters, master of the material “of black”, who died last year. But a joyful tribute because he is always with us.

6. Connect with your corporate community. Exchange, discuss… on the theme of decoration, styles.

Depending on your industry, it could also give you a tailored way to extend your company’s marketing message to a whole new audience.

7.Integrate your brand colors

When choosing a color palette for your space, incorporate your brand colors so that your space truly maintains a cohesive style that reflects who you and your business are. By incorporating your brand into office design, employees can feel a stronger connection to the company and be more inclined to promote a positive image of the company.

The right colors can have a powerful psychological impact on people, making them feel happier.

8. Delineate different spaces with rugs

Rugs are a great way to delineate various spaces without creating physical barriers. If you have a larger space with multiple sections, separate these areas with mats.

Or, if your office is smaller, place them under furniture to create nice accents or add one directly outside your office doors. Even one or two can really brighten up your space.

9. Place discreet but effective mirrors to enlarge certain areas

These office décor items can change the look of your workspace. They make your office more refined and professional and can expand any type of space, making your workspace more open and inviting.

10. Add a funky side table

For some people, abstract art can be distracting, but if placed in the right room at the right angle, a funky side table like this can make a really cool centerpiece for your office, and often acts as a great conversation starter when greeting. new customers.

11. Color Coding Your Office Supplies

Not only do matching pencil holders and staplers keep you looking organized, but they also keep you organized. It has even been proven that certain colors improve your critical thinking skills.

Color can profoundly affect your productivity. Scientific research has shown that blue colors affect your mind, red your body, yellow your emotions, and green your “balance.” By combining these colors, you can greatly influence your behavior at work.

If you need to get creative, try using the color purple. The blue and red hues activate the synapses in your brain as they produce an experience of the mind and body.

If you search for “most productive color” on Google, you’ll find many results suggesting that the answer is blue. If you’re doing mental work all day, experts recommend painting your desk blue and spicing it up with a little orange. It evokes the emotion in your mind-stimulating room.

12. Separate Spaces with Dividers

Open office environments offer more than a modern workspace look. Breaking down walls increases communication and collaboration between team members, giving the entire workspace a sense of overall synergy.

This way, team members feel more inclined to jump into conversations because the atmosphere is welcoming and informal.

13. Assess the atmosphere of your office

Speaking of office vibe, every space in your office should have its own vibe.

You may want your conference room, for example, to have a more serious, work-friendly atmosphere. So having a neutral color palette and more professional-looking furniture would make more sense here.

Meanwhile, you probably want your break room to spark fun and laughter, so adding bright colors, eclectic furniture, and dartboards would be appropriate. Find great office furniture solutions from our friends at Calibre.

14. Painting a wall to enhance a space

To add a pop of color to your space without overwhelming your senses, paint a wall with a bright or accent color, then leave the rest of the desk light and neutral.

15. Let team members customize their private spaces

Because everyone has their own tastes and personal style when it comes to decorating, encourage your team to incorporate all the elements that will motivate them throughout the day.

This can be something simple like a colorful planner that keeps them on track or something extravagant like a mural by their favorite artist. You can even offer employees working remotely the option to customize their home office.

16. Make the most of your natural lighting

Good lighting is one of the most important elements of a well-designed office. Your space may be equipped with the most unique furniture, the best color combinations, and chic desks, but none of it will really shine if you don’t have the right lighting.

Since natural lighting is always at its best, keep all windows clear to fill your workspace with as much natural light as possible. If your windows have blinds, keep them open during the office house.

17. Display healthy snacks

Setting up a colorful display of snacks is an inviting and engaging way to get your team to eat healthy throughout the day so they can stay focused and focused.

Make a bowl of fruit, snack bars, and bottled water available to everyone when they need brain fuel.

18. Adding a Shelf

Investing in personal development to boost employee engagement

If your office likes to stay ahead of the competition with books on professional development and business, store some of the office’s favorites on a shelf in a meeting space or community room.

If you don’t have room for it, simply stack a few books on a coffee table that relate to your company’s purpose and encourage creative thinking in a common area of the office.

19. Showcase Attractive Views

If your office has a panoramic view, make it stand out. Keep the windows open and hold important meetings nearby.

If your desk doesn’t overlook mountain peaks or the ocean, you can always add a backdrop or two. Etsy is always a good choice for interesting options, and you can categorize waterproof, glare-proof, or wrinkle-proof backdrops.

Whether buildings in big cities put you in boss mode or palm trees are more your thing, you’re sure to find something that suits your style.

20. Get rid of desk clutter

Papers, folders and cardboard of all kinds accumulate after a while. By dedicating 20 minutes a day to cleaning up office waste, your space will look clean and refreshed in no time.

21. Don’t forget about olfactory office “decorations”

Having good smells in your office makes your workday enjoyable. Invest in air fresheners and make sure the air circulation in your building is up to par. If you’re careful, you can also light candles to make your workspace smell great.

22. Keep a fruit basket handy

There’s something about a big, fresh, colorful fruit bowl that invigorates you just by looking at it. Place a fruit basket in an unexpected place like the coffee table in the hall.

By doing this, you not only get a pretty picture, but you also encourage healthy snacking!

23. Filing papers into “pretty” folders

Administrative work can be intimidating and sometimes numb. But it has to be done, so make this task more enjoyable by departmentalizing your papers with colorful folders. Blue for marketing, purple for invoicing, etc. Who knew that the ranking could be a stress reliever?

24. Customize Your Computer Desktop

It’s easy, but essential. Just add an image or graphic that you know will inspire you throughout the day as your wallpaper. Change it every few weeks to keep things fresh and new ideas.

25. Keep framed photos of your loved ones nearby

Keeping photos of friends and family on your desk reminds you of what’s most important in life. The next time you’re stressed about a deadline, you’ll calm down once you’ve glanced at Aunt Sharon hugging Grandma.

26. Add unique office furniture

What’s not to love about crazy-looking sofas?

Having funky furniture like cobalt blue lamps and patterned curtains transforms your traditional office space ideas into a futuristic workspace that your friends will envy.

Adding “outdoor” furniture also creates a new informal space where your team can meet, which promotes collaboration.

27. Add a coffee station and small kitchen areas or kitchen corners!

Everyone loves coffee, especially when it’s free. Get a rolling island for the office, place a coffee maker, coffee, and coffee filters on the table, and cups, cream, and sugar in the storage compartment. Get inspiration here for your corporate office design.

Your team can have fun rolling this in the middle of the day by taking espresso orders from people.

28. Hang Team Photos

Do you and your team dedicate time to philanthropic projects? Or maybe designate a day of the month to do a team building activity?

Turn those good teamwork moments into memories by taking photos of your efforts and framing them around the office. Watching them periodically will remind you how good it was to help at the homeless shelter, inspiring you to keep up the good deeds.

29. Add Splashes of Color

Choose a few bright colors to incorporate throughout your space. Use a bright orange backsplash in your kitchen to direct team members to healthy snacks.

Warm tones like reds and yellows boost productivity, so incorporate them into areas where team projects are worked on. Cool tones (think light blues and greens) create a more relaxing environment, so it’s best to use them in spaces like your break room.

30. Choose a Whiteboard

Whether it’s in your own space or in a common area, add a whiteboard (or chalkboard) for a creative and intriguing look. Use it to check off tasks, host presentations, and as an open invitation for team members to do the same.

Pros: You save trees, make sure your tasks get done, and when the afternoon lull arrives, you can doodle to spark your creativity.

31. Adding Plants

Give your desk a new lease of life by adding plants. Potted plants like these can help you separate spaces in a natural way. In addition, they improve the air quality in the office.

32. Position Your Desk Correctly

If you have a private desk in your workspace, orient your desk so that you face team members who pass by or want to enter.

This way, you balance privacy and openness without sacrificing your productivity pace.

33. Make your entryway warm and welcoming

Your entryway is the first thing people notice when they walk through your office doors, so you need to think carefully about how you want to make this space feel good.

How do you want your team and customers to feel when they walk into your office? At home? Ready to get to work?

Make it inviting by incorporating fun sofas and chairs, wall hangings that reflect your company’s vision, and relevant magazines or news articles. If you have enough room, place a high table in the corner with a Keurig station and coffee cups with a sign that says “Grab a cup!”

34. Replace ceiling lighting with lamps or work lights

Hard fluorescent lighting is not comfortable for anyone. It hurts people’s eyes, causes headaches, and obviously doesn’t look good.

Replace your ceiling lighting with industrial or contemporary floor lamps with cool office décor like these to match the rest of your office décor ideas. This change creates a more open and cohesive space and it looks so much better.
